Abe Pinchuk was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1929. In 1945, he enrolled in The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts of Art and Design where he studied for the next three years with Dr Arthur Lismer, Goodrich Roberts, Jacques de Tonancour and other noted artists.
In 1948 he began his foray into the business world where he applied his artistic talents to the fields of advertising and design, and soon became the art director of a large Canadian chain of stores selling auto accessories and supplies. Five years later he opened his own textile printing plant, which evolved into one of the most prominent Canadian firms noted for designing, printing and dyeing fabrics. His company pioneered new techniques, both technically and chemically, which were later adopted by textile printing industry.
In 1982, he diversified his operations into synthetic lubricants, and, with two of his sons, established Thermal-lube Inc. This enterprise grew into a multinational supplier of specialty lubricants and analytical instruments, which are exported world-wide. The company has won awards for its research and development and enjoys an excellent international reputation.
Abe Pinchuk retired in 2004 to pursue his first love, oil painting, and opened a studio in Montreal. During his business career, he never ceased painting and drawing and many of his works, created over the past 60 years, are in private collections and commercial institutions in Canada and the United States.
In the spring of 2008, Abe had a solo exhibition at the new “Gemst Gallery” in Montreal, where he exhibited a retrospective of his landscapes which was an artistic and commercial success.
